Sugaring Care

Pre Care

Exfoliate your skin a maximum of 2 days prior to your treatment.  Do no exfoliate the day before, the day of or the day after your treatment

Arrive at your appointment clean and free from lotions on the areas receiving the treatment.  If your are sugaring your underarms, please do not put on deodorant.

Men should bring a clean white shirt if sugaring their back or chest.

Women may experience extra sensitivity to sugaring up to a week prior to the beginning of their period.

Sugaring cannot be performed if you have been in a tanning booth the same day, if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year or if you have had a physician administered peel with in the past 2 years. You also cannot be Sugared if you are taking Prescribed Retin-A, Retinol, Accutane.

Do not drink alcohol up to 24 hours before your sugaring treatment, this might make you scream "Kelly Clarkson"!

If you are extremely sensitive to pain you may want to take a pain killer of your choice 20-30 minutes before your appointment.

Post Care

Do not apply any scented lotions or creams other than the approved Sugar SMAC Body Tonic spray and Sugar SMAC Soothing body lotion which have anti-bacterial, soothing and healing properties to help keep your open pores clean.  Both products are stock in the Beauty Bar.

Do not touch, rub or scratch the treated area, hands carry germs and we want to avoid these germs entering your freshly opened pores.

After 48 hours you can begin to exfoliate 2-3 times a week in the shower or bath. Exfoliation promotes circulation and most importantly, frees the skin of excess build-up which often results in ingrown hair. Exfoliating allows the sugaring treatment to be less troublesome and results in a timely session as dead or dry skin can accumulate.

Wait 24 hours before friction and activities that make you sweat, an irritation may occur on freshly sugar'd areas.

Wait for 48 hours to book your next spray tanning appointment, having it done sooner may result in little orange dots!

Do not use a razor or depilatory creams between your sugaring treatments, this defeats the goal to refine and diminish your hair growth, and to have healthy, smooth skin. â€‹

If you are booking a sugaring appointment for a special event (vacation, wedding etc.) it is recommended to have 2-3 treatments prior to your event.  Schedule the last one 3-5 days prior, and 4 weeks prior to the last session. This will allow time for your hair to get your hair trained and on a sugaring schedule allowing you to go up to 6 weeks in between your appointments.

Your first three sugaring appointments are your most important treatments.  It is important to not let it go past the 4 week mark to ensure we are removing your hair in its anagen stage (1st stage).  This will be the most effective way to rid you of those stubborn coarse hairs.  Sugaring treatments done regularly lead to less painful treatments, which provides a more thorough removal of hair as it allows slower growth and it can a reduction of growth.
